Danu Nay-La green tea

IMG20180815110304.jpg

Our green tea farmers are in Oat Dwin, Yay Chan Pyin, and Kyan Taw villages in Ywangan township, southern Shan State.

It is a very beautiful landscape with many streams running through the lands. Our villages stretch over rolling hills, valleys, and across mountains, with forests as far as the eye can see.

We train and support our tea farmers on best agricultural and organic practices. Danu farmers have been growing tea in Myanmar for centuries, but we can help them with the latest trends and production techniques.

At harvest, they skilfully pluck the top two, new leaves and buds for our specialty tea products. Other farmers also pluck three leaves and one bud swiftly for commodity products.

Our tea is picked mostly by young women, with some older women. Plucking requires a lot of care and skill. Average capacity is 48 kg of green leaves per day.

The tea leaves are transported to our tea factory in Yay Chan Pyin village, and processed using a 2020 German CTC (cut, tear, curl) machine. We customize our tea according to customer needs, selling it as specialty and commodity. Our specialty tea is tested for quality by a tea expert in France.

The tea is packed into branded, laminated bags of 1.6 kgs and 0.4 kg ready for retail and wholesale. We also use unbranded polypropylene bags for 16.3 kg and 24.45 kg for our customers to rebrand themselves.

We produce 4–8 tons of green tea per year.
